Creative Writing

In modern life, a poem is an adaptable art form that expresses the poet’s unique feelings and thoughts on contemporary experiences, often reflecting the complexities of the world and promoting emotional and critical engagement from the reader. Modern poetry frequently departs from traditional forms, using free verse to explore everyday life and even challenging aspects of society, fostering a more realistic and empathetic understanding of the world.
That Side of Life-Chopbook 2024
As my final project throughout the school year for Creative Writing 2, I collected 10 of my original poems I had composed and made them into an poetic anthology where sincerely revealed my true self in my lines and dictions. I showed appreciations to American life, oded the nature that envelops unlimited mystery and walked through the fancy thoughts on music. To exhibit the poem on devices that we use everyday, I intergated graphic designs in a harmonious story telling, which bridged poetics from the good old time with our modern lifestyle. It will give you an idea on how to draft and format your “side of life”.
The Van along the Road-Chopbook 2025
In the first semester of my senior year, as well as the first year in Youthbeats, we pick a song from Radiohead and expand the idea into a short story. It focuses on the civil movement in the background of 50s and narrows down on a man’s journey in a factory. The song expresses more on the rhythm and lyrics; I rewrite the value from the song – simple life collides with civil resolution. In this chopbook, you can find elements on the era in the aesthetic digital design skills. In a prose narrative, it guides us into an insight of the generic situation in 1950s.
